Jane Cooper

Jane Cooper (1924–2007), New York’s State Poet from 1995 to 1997, is the author of five books of poetry, including The Weather of Six Mornings (Lamont Poetry Selection of The Academy of American Poets) and Green Notebook, Winter Road (Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize finalist). Her honors include an Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and a fellowship from the Guggenheim Foundation. Jane Cooper was a professor and poet in residence at Sarah Lawrence College, where she helped to establish its creative writing program with writers including Grace Paley and Muriel Rukeyser.
