About Paris Press www.parispress.org →
Founded in 1995 to bring back into print The Life of Poetry by Muriel Rukeyser, Paris Press is a small not-for-profit 501(c)(3) press that publishes literature by women that has been neglected by the mainstream publishing world. Paris Press books include On Being Ill by Virginia Woolf (cover art by Vanessa Bell); Bryher's Visa for Avalon, The Heart to Artemis, and The Player's Boy (cover art by R. Allison Ryan); Simplicity and NBCC award-winning Ordinary Words by Ruth Stone (cover art by Siena Sanderson); Solitude of Self by Elizabeth Cady Stanton (cover art by Hannah Cohoon); and Tell Me Another Morning by Zdena Berger (cover art by Charlotte Salomon).
In addition to its publishing program, Paris Press sponsors educational outreach events for students and adults throughout the United States, and Press books are taught at many prestigious colleges and secondary schools.
Paris Press books, authors, programs, and the Press itself have received
over 200 reviews and features in the general media, including The
New York Times Book Review, "Fresh Air"/National Public Radio (NPR),
The New Yorker, The Nation, The New York Review of Books, BookForum,
and The Los Angeles Times Book Review.
The Press is funded through grants from public and private foundations,
contributions from individuals, and through book sales. Please help Paris
Press bring recognition to essential literature by women writers.
